Friary Fields History
Friary Fields' history as a residential care home in Newark starts with us, Lee and Bindu Ramchurn. We were both Registered General Nurses (RGNs), each with experience in mental health care, before we left the NHS to open Friary Fields in 1987.
For many years we welcomed elderly residents with a variety of care home needs, from in and around Newark. However, over the years, we became aware of the lack of support for sufferers of dementia and Alzheimer’s. With our nursing and mental health backgrounds and ever-increasing experience, we believed we could offer assistance and, in 2004, Friary Fields became the first private care home in Newark to specialise in Alzheimer’s and dementia care for the elderly.
Today, with our son Ashvin on the team, Friary Fields remains a warm and friendly, family-run care home, providing compassionate services for mentally frail sufferers of dementia and Alzheimer’s, as well as support for their families.
